OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The show choir competition known as Raider Classic is to serve Southern Wells and its music students with an opportunity to plan and implement an event that will promote our school and serve the needs of small school/show choir programs across the state of Indiana and Midwest region of the country with quality instructional feedback in the early part of the Show Choir Competition season. The event further provides opportunity for our students and music staff to interact with top notch musicians and programs while providing service and funding opportunities for local area businesses and school groups.
- Ladies Group, MS, or HS Mixed Group (Link) $200.00 entry fee if first time participant OR postmarked before Oct 15th. $225.00 thereafter. Final Deadline is December 12, 2018

Meet Our Judges Team
- Vocals/Choreography
- John joined our team of judges at the contests inception in 2002.
- John Wenning is a 1982 graduate of Ball State University with a BS and MA in Music Education. John has spent the past 33 years teaching vocal music in the public schools. For twenty-eight of those years, he was the choral director and department chair at Huntington North High School. John was the director of the nationally acclaimed Varsity Singers. While under his direction, the Varsity Singers were named Grand Champions more than 70 times and received numerous awards for their outstanding vocal production, choreography, and instrumental back up ensemble. Each year his choral ensembles consistently received Division I ratings at the Indiana State School Music Association organizational competitions. John is currently the choral director at Crestview Middle School in Huntington County where he directs six different choirs in grades six through eight. He is the founder of the first ever "Cougar First Edition" show choir at Crestview Middle School. John served a fourteen-year term from 1997 to 2011 on the board of directors for the Indiana Choral Directors Association as the Show Choir Repertoire and Standards Chairman. John was selected as “Teacher of the Year” for the Huntington County Community Schools and “Educator of the Year” by the Huntington County Rotary Club in 1994. He was also recognized as “Teacher of the Year” in 2000 by the Fort Wayne Radio Station WMEE. In 2006 John was recognized by Ball State University and the School of Music with the Alumni Achievement Citation award. In 2009, John received the Golden Apple Award. In addition to his busy schedule at Crestview Middle School, John is a custom show choir arranger, clinician and adjudicator for many schools, festivals and competitions. He is a member of Indiana Music Educators Association and American Choral Directors Association.
